Silver Lake Ditch – Giving thanks for the water and all those that keep it flowing!

Dear Silver Lake Ditch Water Users,

Our esteemed Jim Snow has recently stepped down as President to handle personal matters. Please join me in extending a ginormous and heartfelt thanks to him for thirty-two years of hard work and dedicated service to the Ditch.

The board is pleased to announce that Elizabeth Avery has stepped up to the challenges of being our new President. She assumes this position with the blessings of Jim and the full support of the board. Elizabeth was ditch rider for some fifteen years and knows the Ditch intimately.

And thanks to all of you who help to keep the water flowing! (that includes staying current on your assessment payment – so if you haven’t paid or aren’t sure, just email me, catherine@silverlakeditch.org)

And now a word from Elizabeth –

Dear Silver Lake Ditch Members,

As the recent weeks and the hot dry weeks in mid-summer have shown us, water from the skies above is not to be counted upon. How fortunate we are to have our wonderful ditch water!

This coming season, 2026, we are again delighted to have Randy Cantu as ditch rider. He will have an assistant, Logan Tepper, who appears to share in Randy’s enthusiasm, curiosity, and dedication. Thank you Randy and welcome Logan!

Although the ditch is not running, the board has been busy with ongoing concerns and projects. There are new crossings, old culverts, and in many areas we are faced with protecting our ability to keep the water flowing. With the growing population density in Boulder, everything needs to be even more carefully controlled. In addition, we are hoping to get ahead with general maintenance, the lateral headgates, vegetation control…

We are planning to post some of our progress on projects on the website, which should become a place to find our latest news.

Lastly, our dear wonderful President of 32 years, Mr. Jim Snow, has stepped down. He remains central to the team and will be relied upon for his expertise and guidance.

With Dedication and Gratitude, Elizabeth
