The Ditch Rider is in charge of ensuring that water reaches users smoothly and fairly. They prepare the ditch in advance of the season, working with the President and the Maintenance Manager to clear the channel, remove obstructions, place new liner where called for, and generally get the ditch ready. They bring down the water at the start of the season, remove debris during the season, and clean the ditch after the season. Their job includes monitoring water use on the Main Ditch and discussing any breach of conduct with Main Ditch users. They open and close lateral gates during the season. They handle emergencies. They are the one to call if there are any Main Ditch problems.
